WELCOME TO WORSHIP @LEVEE PARK

It’s great to be outdoors today, rain or shine. Today, we’ll sing some contemporary praise music, share a little bit about Resurrection and its role as a community church, learn something from the Disney movie Dumbo, then wrap up with an opportunity for communion and a final song.

TODAY’S MESSAGE

We’re bringing movies to life  in our current summer message series: At The Movies. We look at some memorable clips from recent films and see how they might apply to our lives. Today, Pastor Chris Kneen picks up on Dumbo and it’s parallel story of redemption. All because of big ears.

Verse 1

I was buried beneath my shame

Who could carry that kind of weight?

It was my tomb ‘Til I met You

I was breathing but not alive

All my failures I tried to hide

It was my tomb ‘Til I met You

You called my name

And I ran out of that grave

Chorus

Out of the darkness

Into Your glorious day

You called my name

And I ran out of that grave

Out of the darkness

Into Your glorious day

Verse 2

Now Your mercy has saved my soul

Now Your freedom is all that I know

The old made new, Jesus, when I met You

You called my name

And I ran out of that grave

Chorus

Out of the darkness

Into Your glorious day

You called my name

And I ran out of that grave

Out of the darkness

Into Your glorious day

Bridge

I needed rescue, my sin was heavy

But chains break at the weight of Your glory

I needed shelter, I was an orphan

Now You call me a citizen of Heaven

When I was broken, You were my healing

Now Your love is the air that I’m breathing

I have a future, My eyes are open

‘Cause when You called my name

I ran out of that grave

Chorus

Out of the darkness

Into Your glorious day

You called my name

And I ran out of that grave

Out of the darkness

Into Your glorious day

SCRIPTURE

Luke 19:1-10

Then Jesus entered and walked through Jericho. There was a man there, his name Zacchaeus, the head tax man and quite rich. He wanted desperately to see Jesus, but the crowd was in his way—he was a short man and couldn’t see over the crowd.

So he ran on ahead and climbed up in a sycamore tree so he could see Jesus when he came by. When Jesus got to the tree, he looked up and said, “Zacchaeus, hurry down. Today is my day to be a guest in your home. Zacchaeus scrambled out of the tree, hardly believing his good luck, delighted to take Jesus home with him.

Everyone who saw the incident was indignant and grumped, “What business does he have getting cozy with this crook?” Zacchaeus just stood there, a little stunned. He stammered apologetically, “Master, I give away half my income to the poor—and if I’m caught cheating, I pay four times the damages.” Jesus said, “Today is salvation day in this home! Here he is: Zacchaeus, son of Abraham! For the Son of Man came to find and restore the lost.”
